Electric or hydraulic STEERING?
Is the GMC Yukon *power steering*, electric or hydraulic? I drive from a wheelchair and they can more easily make hydraulic steering even easier (less effort).
What about the Buick Enclave steering - electric or hydraulic?
Thx!

All Gm trucks 2014 and newer went to a electric power steering system.
The belt driven electronic power steering system consists of the following components:
•The integrated electromechanical power steering unit, containing the power steering control module, its sensors, the power steering motor, a belt drive and a ball nut mechanism.
•The steering gear (rack and pinion)
The power steering control module is part of the power steering assist motor assembly and is replaceable as a complete unit independent of the steering gear assembly. The torque sensor is integrated with the steering gear pinion and is serviced as part of the steering gear.
The belt driven electric power steering system reduces the amount of effort needed to steer the vehicle utilizing the power steering control module to control the power steering motor to maneuver the steering gear. The power steering control module also uses a combination of the torque sensor, motor rotational sensor, battery voltage circuit and serial data circuit to perform the system functions. At low speeds more assist is provided for easy turning during parking maneuvers. At higher speeds less assist is provided for improved road feel and directional stability.

Actually, I'm going to chime in and say that he has 5 threads going about the same thing. 3 of them which are in trash right now.
Please keep everything hyd/electric brake powersteering in one thread please.

Mike (senior admin) sorry. I'm researching 3 diffdifferent vehicles (gmc yukon, chevy tahoe , buick eenclave ). So I posted the brake question in 3 threads. Since then, I have only posted here. My brake question was answered. My power steering was answered for gmc/chevy, but not Buick Enclave. Sorry but the dealers I have called, have been no help. The manuals I downloaded from "media. Buick.com don't have the info.
So I ththought these forums could help.
AppAppreciated! Just trying to do a complicated conversion so I can drive from my wwheelchair. Thx again

That'* from the generals repair manual. Description and operation of the power steering system. The Buick enclave and Chevy traverse still use a hydraulic system for the powersteering.
