Jason, maybe you can clear this up?

-Autobahn Package
Never heard of that on a Bonneville before. Isn't that an Aurora thing?

Just trying to clarify this for a potential buyer, but I'd assume one of two things:

That'* an error.
It'* a Canadian car only option that we've never heard of before.

It might pay to research it further.

I assumed it had something to do with the suspension, gearing or tires.... either way, the car was built with it.

A quick search on the forum here shows at least one other person with QVG.
And on the compiled RPO list here on the BC, it'* listed as "QVG - tire, all season,P225/60R16/N BL R/PE ST TL AL3 97H "

That is a tire code. GM doesn't even have an RPO code for Autobahn. It'* a combination of other options that dictates it.

Your Bonneville does not have an Autobahn package. It has tires.

The Autobahn option only applies to classic Auroras and it was a factory option that included Michelin tires with a V speed rating instead of a standard * rating, and a 3.71 transaxle final ratio instead of the standard 3.48. What they didn't advertise - and the reason why many people ask if they have the option - is that these two changes allowed the engineers at Oldsmobile to increase the speed limiter from 110 mph in the non-Autobahn car up to 135-140 mph in the Autobahn equipped car. In addition to a greater maximum speed the optional transaxle ratio also gives quicker acceleration (and poorer fuel economy).

"Do I have one?"

The obvious way to find out if your Aurora has the Autobahn option is to take the car out for a drive and see if you can go faster than 110 mph - this may not be practical though, and an easier way is to check the tire information label inside the driver'* door and see if it lists V rated tires, don't bother to check the tires themselves as they may not be the originals. Another way is to read the RPO list which you'll find inside the trunk - (the exact location of the list depends on the year of the car, up to 1996 it was inside the trunk liner near the antenna, and on the 1997 and up it was on the inside of the spare tire cover.) The autobahn car will have a code of QQX for the V rated tires, and a code of FV4 for the final drive ratio of 3.71.

Oldsmobile dealers may have offered different packages of options, or "Preferred Equipment Groups" but nothing else was included with the Autobahn package from the factory. Chrome wheels, sliding glass sun roof, gold graphics and more were all offered as options on the Aurora, but none of these on the car are an indication that the car has the Autobahn option.

Autobahn was not an option with the 4 litre Generation 2 Auroras, they have H rated tires standard, as well as the 3.71 final drive ratio and they are speed limited to 135 mph.

(Tire speed ratings: V=149 mph; H=130 mph; *=112 mph.)

the GM RPO Master List does not say anything about the Autobahn

The point of this excercise is to correct a For Sale listing for the benefit of our members and your potential buyer. Not to debate RPO code definitions.

I suggest you correct your original post to reflect the fact that tires shipped on the car from the factory. (not sure where the error in your printout came from, but GM computers have a reputation.......including the ones that run our cars).

Back on topic.........

STYLED PAINTED is PA6

I guess this mysterious "Autobahn Package" might be a Canadian thing. However, on the Aurora it means that the car'* speed limiter has been increased to above 110mph and it cames with V rated tires. My car has had the speed limiter removed, and comes with W rated tires.

Bill, if you're really concerned about me listing something my car was built with as spec'd from GM, because of confusion, I can edit my post. No biggie, but it was listed on my RPO sheet, and I've found one other GM car that is listed the same way. Both Canadian 1997 SSEi'*. So you can see how I thought it was valid.... besides... it sounds cool too.
