I have been kicking that idea around myself. The interior of the car is nice, but nothing fancy.
I have done some research on the dash kits and each dealer has different combinations of pieces for different prices. Some offer additional pieces that the others don't, or dont carry the same patterns of wood grains. It is hard to compare apples-to-apples. I would really like to see one installed up close. I would hate to buy a kit and find out it looks cheap and gaudy.

ya i know what you mean I just started looking. I thought they were pieces that would replace the old ones, but what i have seen is they overlay the old ones and are glued in place. not so sure i want to glue something on and then not like it and have to buy new factory pieces. Do you have any good web sites that sell them?

These are the ones I have been looking at. This list is pared down from several suppliers that were either too expensive or too limited in their availability. I suggest that you print out all the template layouts and compare the number of and type of pieces available. Some have kits with just about everything and some have several optional pieces. Compare wood grains, plus remember that real wood costs more than simulated.
Yes, these pieces fit over your existing dash, console, door handle, etc. I wish I had a shop near me that I could see the parts in person. Most of our pieces are not flat and have many compound curves. That makes me a little leary over how the final fit and finish will be. It is hard from the pics to see how "3-dimensional" these pices really are.
Also note that all of these places will not allow returns for the sake of you simply not liking their product. If it ain't broke or damaged, you are basically stuck with it.

Hope this helps,

I had also considered this option, but decided it contradicts the design of the insturment cluster. I kinda like the psuedo-high tech, cockpit appearance. I can't recall the last time I saw wood trim in an F18...
I'd prefer a carbonized or even dark metallic overlay. Maybe something in a cool gunmetal finish?

The 87-91'* have that fake wood plastic *** stuff on the dash around the stereo head unit, and environmental controls. It has an element of class to it.
Why was it removed from later models? or has it? I can't remember.
I suppose the 92+ model, Pontiac abandoned the class and went for the sportier look.

it was taken out i think because the older stuff just looked really fake and the dealers just dont spend the money to put in the real stuff, so might as well go with plastic if it looks better.
