Default Which would you buy?

I have to start thinking about the next Pontiac to add to the stable. I finally test drove a GXP for the first time last weekend. I have to say that I am disappointed in the torque after driving a super charger for awhile now. Since we all tend to drive these things until after the wheels fall off more than once, it has to be the right car. 15k for a 05 GXP or hold out for another 92-99 ssei but with low miles - and from the south. The wife wants butt warmers, but I wants my supercharger. We were both pleased with the ride and gauge cluster on the GXP - just no boost gauge :(

Curious if any GXP owners that have also owned other Bonnevilles feel the same.

Keep in mind that if you plan to do and mods, the GXP is not for you. Very little you can do to the engine.

Have you thought about 2000-03 SSEi? The cluster is laid out the same as GXP, it'* black not white and has a boost gauge instead of the volt gauge. You'll have your supercharger and she'll have her butt warmers. Just what I was thinking while reading your post

I like the GXP. The three reasons I don't consider the GXP (all inter-related) are:

harder to service because of the tight fit of the engine in the engine bay

some parts are more expensive because the GXP had a limited run

northstar engine may require more service/ repairs than the 3.8 supercharged engine (this is not a fact but an observation when doing research on the Caddy DTS)

If I had GXP V'* money and time, I would buy a GXP (he can afford to pay for repairs). Since I don't- I am extremely happy and content with my 2001 SSEi.

Actually, I could afford the GMPP. Which BTW is still good for 23k miles or Jan, 2013.

Torque, torque is albeit removed by the N* T/C circuit. With it off, the GXP can roast the tires. With experienced drivers of each, stock against stock, this is way less than a full second between them. That said, yes you can do alot more modding to change this with the 3800. But then again, Modded or not, 60-150+ belongs to the N*. If you would have clamped down on the throttle into second gear @ 70MPH, you would have felt the torque and breathe the GXP can achieve. Quite the experience managing the torque steering. It is a highway cruiser. Given the uniqueness and style, I'm happy with my GXP. I'd like a little more off the line pep, but if that became my prime consideration, I wouldn't be shopping for a Bonneville to begin with. Alot of work and maintenance to get a large semi luxury car into 12'*. They come of the showroom floors much quicker these days and built for it.

I personally would go with an SSEi for the balance of power and mileage. I do believe you can get heated seats in the 99 also (or at least mod them in).

I would go with the 2001-2003 SSEi as well. Same car as the GXP with the familiarity of the 3800.

Come on guys.......ultimatelly it is the wifes decision........did she like the GXP or would she rather keep the oldie but a goodie?

If you not 100% sold on the GXP I would also say head towards a 01-03 SSEi......but toasters included.
