Went and looked at a 94 SSEI yesterday
I saw it sitting on the dealers lot, black, shiny, not a scratch on her. The salesman opened her up and inside she was perfect, not a mark on the leather or the dash. 144000km, not bad for a 94. When I turned the key it sounded like a lawnmower with a coathanger stuck in it. I opened the hood and could hardly see the engine for the smoke. That salesman was one sheepish looking dude.

I don't know for sure, but there was oil pouring out of it. Once I saw that I didn't stick around. As I was leaving he said "Yeah, I don't blame you."

i know there are a lot of dealers that will make deals on cars brought in for repair: ie you have a car that they worked on, old and not too great, 1500 in repairs comin at you. dealer says, trade in the car, repair is free, and i'll give you 1500 towards the purchase of another vehicle (from us, of course).
course, usually, they auction off the bad cars instead of trying to sell them...
but think of it this way - if you could figure out what was wrong, imagine the deal you could get on it...
you should go back and take pics for us all!

I looked at a 95 SSE not too long ago, great shape, started it up, sounded fine. Then smoke started coming from under the hood because it was dumping oil. I didnt stick around too long after that.
