uh.. yeah. I only do it when passing people. I don't like being in the left lane for longer than I have to be. Other than that not really. I'm not compelled to go WOT from every stop and in all honesty I have only done so one time and that was in that video I posted. No use in damaging your transmission for no reason. If I were to go WOT from a stop I'd slowly push into it. As in, start off at 25% throttle and slowly press the pedal until it was to the floor. Not just mash on it. I have a damn nice car that I feel is a major privelage considering my age and I fully intend on keeping it that way.

That is what i do. Hit the end of the gas pedal (enough so it shifts right at 4500 rpm) then dig into it after it shifts. Then it screams to 6 grand. I also wait for my engine temp to get to 200 before even taking it over 3,000RPM. I always idle my car for 5 minutes before i even take off.

I dont think you can truly damage the tranny by doing it once in a while like that from a stop like the vid. The 4T60-E should still be pretty robust. Just change the fluid every 2 yrs and it should be good

What i have been doing lately is taking off in 2nd gear and pressing maybe 40% throttle so it shifts at 5k, then let it coast down when coming to a stop...sounds soo good out the back when you do that. hehe.

A redline a day keeps the doctor away.

Running up to redline for sake of cleaning is called an Italian tune up. It does prevent buildup, and can keep things cleaner in there, but it'* not seafoam.

Carbon buildup can be very bad. If the pieces get big, they will create hot spots, and start detonation.

custom, I too am the same way. I usually get the car up to about 15-20mph in 1st, then give WOT. Usually, by the time I get full WOT, the car is in 2nd gear, and that'* where you need WOT to really accelerate.

Bonnememn: couldn't agree more..
