Default Any Ideas for these problems?

So the cardomain page in my siggie has a couple pix of the Bonne i'm planning on buying if all goes well at the mechanics on thursday. Here are some of the small problems i have found with it on my own or the owner told me about.

1. Gas tank has a problem when it'* below 1/4 tank and you whip the back end around like a u turn or such, it shuts off the car, and you have to restart it. The shop will fix this.

2. Fans have been on and off this spring and i witnessed it first hand. When i drove the car in the morning with my friend along they worked and was cold. When My parents came along with me about 10 hrs later the fans in the dash for the front passengers didnt work. The rear ones did, and so did the defrost. Maybe a bad climate control, or the ducts aren't working right? I don't know exactly how to work the system but on any setting they didnt work that night.

3. Hood doesnt pop up when the release is pulled, i have heard this could be to slack in the cable for the release, i'll check on it myself. The hood has to be pulled up when the lever is being pulled pretty much.

4. DIC says tail lamps, and the odo or trip looses some of the numbers. They disapear or parts of the numbers don't show up, i think this might be related to the fan thing since both are in the dash, and something mighta jossled them loose.

5. The plastic trim piece on the drivers door has been moved a little it looks like, and isn't seated 100% correctly. Its off by 1/2 inch on the bottom. Are these easy to take off and put back on? I haven't looked at it too much myself.

Other then that the car works like a dream, the speakers aren't blown at all, the stereo is clean, the moonroof works great, handles like a new car. I didnt check to see the antenna move up or down (is it motorized?) so i don't know if it'* working bad or not, but it picked up all the stations. Any Ideas or suggestions, tips, hints, tricks, you know send them my way!

I have the same problem with my gas tank... in my case the problem is due to a non-Bonneville specific gas tank (org was replaced), and due to the shape of the tank in relation to the bobber and the fuel pump, during hard turns (or even light turns if the gas is low enough) the fuel pump can't get the fuel, and thus the engine stalls out.

The problem with the fans might be two things... A) bad main fan on the firewall. B) try cleaning the evap... see the techinfo for help on how to do that.

Hope that info helps some of your issues...

I had my hood lever hardware and release wire worked on...that easy enough to fix, your worries are minor.

It sounds like it is mechanical sound...so go for it

Well i didn't think it would be a fan since the other outlets worked, just not the vents in the dash for passengers, are there seperate fans for each circuit? I thought that most cars had one fan for the front of the car, but used ducts that opened and closed to have the vents on or off. Or could the Climate control unit be malfunctioning? Maybe that malfunctioning is also what'* wrong with the DIC'* odo and trip? These things aren't cheap to fix/replace if the unit itself is bad are they.

Well im a college student and my college is 70 miles away, so im doing freeway driving. So running the tank down is kinda needed incase i dont have money right away! Thats not my fix though, the shop is doing that, but the Motor is nice and strong, the tranny shifts very smoothly (but not too smooth )

I love these cars, and it proves that GM has made, and had a winner a long time, just an overlooked winner by most. But i don't want what everyone else drives, and i'll do it in luxury and style while my roomate from last year calls his 95 2 dr cavalier has the looks, comfort, sound system, and style... He put the cheapest pioneer deck in it with a bad amp and cheapest RF subs with stock speakers. I like these bonnies stereos more, they have about 2x the raw power, 2x the doors, and my rear seat has more room then his front seats. He paid $3k for his, im hoping to do 2200-2500

I don't think you will fix the gas tank problem. This is a problem with all 92s and 93s, something to do with the fuel pump, which happens to be in the gas tank. The only way to correct is to get a newer year (94+) gas tank for it, and I don't even know if they will fit. THeoretically it should, though....good lukc.

Does the air come out of the defrost and floor vents all of the time, even when set to 60 degrees?

The Driver Information Center problem is a common one on the SSE/SSEi. You have to replace/rebuild the instrument cluster, or take it out of the dashboard and clean it (ask acgssei).

The fuel problem seems to be one that happens on 92s. One guy on this site repaired it. You'll have to do a search to find that thread.

Man a triple post, well the gas tank would be fixed at my shop, i wouldn't be doing it, do you think that they can do that? I'll let them know what you guys said, and maybe they can tell me how much one would be to put in. I get parts at cost cause my mom works there but no discount on labor :( Anywho, i'll get this info to my mechanic tomorrow, and when he'* checking out the car. I'm thinking of a name, you guys have "Red Light District" (which i saw a very clean car a lot like today) and "Crime of the Century" blah blah. I was trying to ut together a name along the lines of "it'* not easy being green" ok that does sound stupid....

For the air ducts, check to see if there is an empty post on the black box, just to the left of the brake master cylinder. If there is, look for a vacuum line hanging somewhere nearby and hook it up. Seems to happen a lot. That line controls the airducts.
