Last night 1993 SLE and I were chatting and he shows me a car that looks to be nearly identical to my 97 SSEi about a mile away at a dealer.

We zip over (it'* about 11:30pm).. Car looks great in pictures.

Here'* the rundown
It'* at Artioli Dodge in Enfield CT 06082, they listed it as a 97 SSE Supercharged, loaded etc. Badges on it are SSEi, it'* black and looks great at 86K miles. Chrome T stars.

We get there.. I hit the car with the lights and OMG

Every single body piece and panel is scratches and nicked and generally look lightly beaten to a pulp. One exhaust tip missing.

Interior is complete and looks very good, probably 86K inside. Open the door..Ewww a chain smoker car, headliner is falling at the back edge. Windows were tinted by a couple 2 year olds.. Overall..interior is good...

Then..the superior alien vision (1993 SLE) spots something out ot place. A volt gauge where the boost gauge should be.

Checked the VIn.. car is an SSEi, badges are on and original looking. (no one that beats a car this bad would have added them that well). Hmmm this car has a cluster changed on it at the least.

It goes to show you how well pictures can hide things. I would have popped the hood for the hell of it.

Cops cruise by often enough...

I doubt they would be happy about someone inspecting a car at midnight w/o a sales person.

You need club cards with "Official Inspector" on them

My club cards are the ones with my name and title printed on them. I'm sure it would do well.

Tony..lol...VP, Lime and I walked into Autozone..the girl sees his club shirt and asks if he lives around the corner..something about she'* seen a ton of Bonne'* there. I'm sure we've made our impression in the area.

just to comment on this one.....it sure is weird, now realize that in 97 ( I have the dealer Brochure) you could have gotten an SSE, and then ordered the SC as an option....now this still dosent explain why there are SSEi badges on the car....

the Next steps are to check the RPO codes for the Cluster......The U50 cluster is the one that is the volt gague....the U2F is the Boost cluster....that will tell us if the cluster was changed or not

But the VIN says HZ and its a Vin 1.....this car is just weird

Mine is HZ, if that means anything. Was CCR not standard on SSEi'* after 93?
