I'm running 235/55R16 no problem. I've heard that you can go with a 245 and they still fit, but anything bigger requires modifications to the suspension.

10mm width in either direction is fine (215 or 235 in your case), and 20mm is probably okay too (depending on the width of your rims)... although wider is not recommended for our upcoming winter months, as mentioned in the thread link above.

Yeah, but 10mm isn't going to make any bit of difference if you are driving too fast and too close in the first place. Just drive safe and any tire will be fine. Especially if you can only afford one set in the first place.

I went ahead and put a set of Bridgestone Tourenza LS-T 225/60/16 on the car.
Mounted, balanced and 4 wheel alignment for just under 500.00

Wanted to go one size wider but I took the day off(wed) to get it done and would have had to order the tire and they wouldn't have been here until today(thur).

Maybe the next set will be wider.
I don't have to worry about the width in the snow as I live in the sunny south.

I need the link for the chart that shows the speed differences relative to the tire size and the speedo,

i just had the same tires (in a 205/70/15) put on my parents Buick. They're spectacular, but not as sporty as my Firehawks :?

Dang! You got ripped on those tires. I paid a whole $352 for mine. And that'* out the door with a lifetime rotate/balance and flat repair warranty.
