Tighten up the steering?
What are things that tighten up the steering? Driving my bro'* 03' and then mine his steering feels more heavy which I like and even tho his feels heavier than mine his feels more responsive. Maybe it'* my head but my car feels like crap when driving 60 then his car. My feels like theres alot of play and can sit there and move alot with-out the car reacting. Is it just cause my car is getting old and worn-out. All posts apr. Thanks.

there may be difference in the racks between the 96 and the 03...also what trim level is the 03??
with your miles the rack may be worn out and have some play in it

Duffer is on the money. You won't be able to get the steering exactly like your brothers however the endlinks will help greatly. It'* the largest difference I've seen in the car for $35 and a couple easy hours.

For the non-Magnasteer years (what year did that come out?) there'* 3 different levels.
MOST SSEi'* (not all I recently found out) got the variable ratio rack AND T2V pump. My 93 is one of these. Very nice response and feedback. Tight, but responsive, no extra input required.
Most SE'* got neither. Too much steering input required to simply keep it on the road.
In between is the oddballs. My SLE got the T2V pump, but despite getting the FE2, which we thought was the trigger, it did NOT come with the variable rack. So it'* somewhat like the SE, but a tad tighter.
driverjohn has the one oddball I've ever seen. I'm betting he has the variable ratio rack (I don't think it'* possible to get an SSEi without it), but did NOT get the T2V which we thought was standard on SSEi'*. As a result, his SSEi doesn't handle quite like mine and Matt'*.
What I'd like to know:
1. What percentage of SSEi'* got T2V rpo codes?
2. What percentage of SSEi'* got variable racks?
3. What percentage of SSE and SE/SLE cars with FE2 got T2V?
4. What percentage of SSE and SE/SLE cars with FE1 got T2V?
The long and short of it is that you need to get both the T2V and the Variable rack from an SSEi to firm it up. Endlinks and bigger sways will help, but to reduce steering input on a daily basis, you have to mess with the steering components.
Keep in mind that the 00+ cars with Magnasteer can have them adjusted.

Dr. Bob was telling us during the summer that he was able to have a GM dealership adjust his steering through the pcm. Anyone else heard of that?
