may be getting an old Chevy...
......OK tomorrow im going to go look at this
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...ME:B:EOAB:MT:6
and if all looks well (as in no real rust, no frame damage or suspension/brake problems etc.) then I am buying it!
Sad to say if all goes well I will have to relinquish the SSEi to another (hopefully faithfull) owner. That Bonneville has been in my life for 4 years now, and ive never loved a car as much. But it seems silly for me to have a car strictly as a toy/race/show vehicle that is so similar to my daily driver (which is much faster) Also I just turned 25 so this may be my 1/4 life crisis mobile
There is more behind wanting a Chevelle than just wanting an old muscle car. I havent really posted about this before, because I try to keep things happy, but I am a widower of about a year now. My wife passed away of cancer March 29th of 2004. Sad yes, but please dont feel sorry for me it doesnt do me much good!
The whole time through when we were dating and when we were married my wife always wanted a 1970-1972 Chevelle. It was her definitive dream car. I always promised that I would buy her one some day and that we could take it to shows together and drive it accross country. Well I decided to restore a Chevelle and dedicate it to her. This may sound sappy and kind of weird but my whole life is cars, I have been a dedicated gear head since I was 9 years old, so it is all I really know.
So wish me luck on my Chevelle hunt.........and anyone wanna buy a BEAUTIFULL 95 SSEi??????????

im going to try and get 5000 for it locally, if possible....if not who knows. Last I checked KBB was around 4500.....but around here you will never find a car as well maintained as my SSEi.....also you will never find an SSEi thats in as good shape as mine is in the state of Missouri (probably)

Yeah, too bad they didn't take care of the interior as well as it appears they did the body. I'm not a fan of the hood pins, but that is a gorgeous car. She would have loved it!!

alright I went and looked at it today, and it was about what I expected. 6 rust spots showing thought the paint...NO rust thew anywhere on the body not the trunk not the floorboards...no where (rust always eats threw the trunk and floorboards on these cars) Things wrong with car are as follows
6 small easily fixable rust spots (in common places like the front of the rockers above the rear tires and one small spot on the back of the LR fender)
1 fairly large crack in the paint on the hood (kinda sucks but hey!)
interior torn
needs some seals in trunk and interior
cracks in front grille and LF corner light
The good
those are original SS wheels (with the trim ring that goes around almost the outside of the wheel, supposedly farely rare)
I love that cowl hood!
all chrome was dirty but easily salvagable (looked like the headlight surrounds and back bumper were farely new)
motor rebuild has less than 3000 miles (runs STRONG, sounds MEAN)
4 speed muncie gear box shifts smoothly (more smooth than alot of new cars)
has new clutch and throwout bearing
tires have 8-9/32" tread with no alignment wear
front end seems tight
new brakes (drums on the front UGGGH, but that will change )
I can fix ANYTHING that goes wrong with that car w/o using a scanner LOL
price was about 3 grand less than what seller bought it for 2 years ago LOL
(I called right after the auction and told the guy I was the winner, and he said "oh yeah what did it go for?" I was like 5800, he was like "SH*T"
Really cool guy I was asking about a few more cars he was selling, and he asked about my Regal, and said he always wanted a car with that 3800 supercharged engine, he just wishes they would have come in a rear wheel drive, I proceeded to tell him that if he was in Austrailia that wouldnt be a problem LOL.....
So Im going to pick it up next thursday and drive it back (about an hour) to my house.
Wish me luck on my Chevelle build
BTW there is no chance in he** im quitting this club, ill probably post even more after the Bonnes gone (after all ill still have the Regal, and ill have to try and out do Harofreak with posting pictures of the Chevelle....get ready Bonneville club for the biggest post ***** ever HEHEHEHEHEHEHE)
