The Series I 3800 had an aluminum intake, the series II had plastic on all N/A models. You don't have a plastic one, only Series II (95+ SE/SSE). SSEi don't have to worry they have the supercharger. You're intake is just a diff color thats all..

The Buick 3.8 L motor has been around for a long time - at least since the 70s.

kinda like the black, it balances the engine bay nicely, as long as it'* the series I intake with half plastic half aluminum i'm good. I stayed away from series II cause of all the problems (but damn they felt nice)

Well thats why i didn't get a series II. I'm a college kid and money will be tight (cause of the bonne) so i don't need $700 repairs, and to be checking my coolant every week.

Yeah i drove two bonnevilles with the 3800 II, a 95 SE and a 97 SE, both were notticably stronger then the original 3800, but not terribly faster. But i can give up the power for reliablility and cost any day. I'd rather get up to that power from some mods ike intake, exaust, etc, then it will soud nice and be custom. I like the engine look on the series I aslo, that engine cover is too big on the new ones.
