Traction Control!?!
O.K i've tested the TC before and it never worked, but tonight it just came on. I took off slowly on the sleet and everything was good until the car tried to shift into second. Then it started to vibrate badly and I noticed the "traction active" light came on. It failed to shift into second and the more I pushed on the gas the slower I went. I couldn't go more than 15mph. Soon it just stopped and it shifted into second and it never came on again. I tried to set it off again but just spun. Hmmm.. typical GM electrical gremlines I think. :?

TC SUX. On your car it uses retarded timing to slow you down, so you're engines basically bogging itself to gain traction. That'* why it doesn't work well in low RPMS, or from stops usually. Old Roomates 02 cavi isn't any better.

Yup, but I learned a little bit about the TC/TM in my car tonight.
Previously I had been under the impression that TC automatically dis-engaged after 25-30mph. Well, when I tried spinning the tires at 55 mph the car just bogged and felt as if the exhaust was plugged. Turned the TC off and it still did it but not until it had been spinning at high rpms in 2nd (80+ mph on the speedo, but the car was actually only going around 40mph) for about 3-4 seconds.

Ya that traction control is a funny one sometimes.
Once last year before I got the Intense upgraded PCM, I tried tricking it and all I succeeded in doing was a triple burnout.
Funniest thing I ever experienced. Tires spinning in first gear, then engine cut fuel and timing and it bogged, then it kicked back in and tires started spinning again....did this three times and produced dashed peel marks on the pavement.
Now I simply disconnect the wheel speed sensors for some uninhibited fun.
Only problem is the antilock brakes won't function if you do this.

I didn't mind the TC in the old Bonnie when I had it. It was helpful at times, but was strange.
Now with the GTP, I don't have TC. I don't miss it either. I'd probably do more damage than help with this car.
