I think it may only work with the bench seat, flip open armrest type...

That'* for the bench armrest. I seriously doubt it would work for ours, and it won't stay level. That type rests on the seat when folded out, not on the center console. It'* also designed to be farther forward when flipped open. It would be in the way of your right arm in the center console of a bucketed car.
