1996-1999 SLE.
I do not want the ELC headaches. Period. For what we use the car for, the rear air struts are much more headache than they're worth.
If not, 1997+ Grand Prix GT, no GTP please.
No SSEi'* either, no premium fuel please.

Actually, I'd say the supercharged cars are just as reliable. On the S2 motors you don't have to worry about intake issues since you have a */C instead of an upper manifold. And the */C'* will rarely have problems. They get the same mileage. If you don't beat on the car all the time, it will run great for a long time.

I can see the difference in fuel costs, BUT right now the car is not driven even close to as much as mine. So I figure 1 tank a week.
It'* looking like most people are leaning towards either a 93 SSEi, or the 96-99 SSEi. I personally and so does Renee, like the style of the 87-91 SSE, then the 00+ body. But I have heard that the 00+ are not as reliable, so that is why I am asking this. Also the cost factor. Hard to buy a car with 0 $$$, lol.

97-99 Bonneville of any trim level, NA or SC. For non-Bon, I'd go with 2001 Grand Prix GT or GTP. My wife has a 2001 GT 4-door. Same engine as my 97SE Bonneville, but the car is lighter and faster. It'* a real dream to drive.
