Over the winter, during the Zilla'* rebuild, I ordered my gaskets at NAPA, and they had a hard time finding the 94/95 L67 TB gasket. They got one from WA, and another from CT for me (I ordered a spare since both cars now run the same top end).

Wanting to keep a spare on hand, I went to order another for the 95 as I'm getting ready to swap the Zilla'* old top end from last year onto it. There are NONE in the NAPA distribution network which includes 3 major gasket manufacturers. None of the distributors have any in stock. A little worse than last time, eh? Called two other parts stores and they told me they couldn't even order them.

I went around the corner and ordered two from the dealer. They're in stock in the Ft. Worth TX warehouse and will be here Thursday. But how long will it be before those aren't available? Series 1 pushrods are already discontinued by GM.

Let'* look at why this is happening:

In 1994 there were 5,968 SSEi'* produced, and another 4,822 in 1995. That'* 10,790 total. Let'* round that up to 11,000 to account for the rather uncommon SC/SLE'*. Now let'* take it up to 16,000 to roughly estimate Buick Riveria'*, Olds LSS, and Buick PA Ultras that got the L67 those two years. Out of those 16,000 cars, how many are still on the road? That'* the only 2 years that particular gasket was used on those particular engines. There'* probably fewer than 8000 of those cars on the road today.

Why doesn't the 91-93 L67 have this problem? Simple. They use the same TB gasket as the 92.5-94 L27, with very high production numbers. And the same as the Buick LeSabre for those years. Hundreds of thousands of production units.

My plan is to put one of these gaskets in CAD and get some raw material when the time comes. I can laser-cut new gaskets at work in seconds if I ever end up keeping these cars long-term.

My advice to anyone with a 94/95 L67 would be to go to your dealer and buy two gaskets for a rainy day.

Just got a PM from PurpleDinoMotorsports. He checked his connections at Advance after reading this (or did I tell you on the tellyfone last night?) and found that even Advance is having a hard time finding these gaskets.

Not having a hard time.. merely takes 3-5 days because they don't stock them at the normal distribution warehouse.

S2 parts are easy to come by.

Hmm, My Advance is totally opposite. Both times I went for 94/95 TB gaskets, they had 2-3 in stock all the time. Odd. :?

That was then. This is now. They'd probably already stopped making them, and that was existing inventory. I've checked multiple sources. The only units in stock that I can find are at the dealer.

just for the heck of it, I called my locat AutoZone.

They can get one ( didn't ask how many they had ) no problem, but none in stock.
If I paid for it before 3:00 PM today, ( $6 ) it would be there on thursday.

yup, NO in stock inventory here either, and have no idea how many they have available to them either. :?

You don't use the same gasket. Are you aware of that?

I have read the Techinfo procedure many times, used it to clean my MAF sensor, was going to clean the throttle body also, but didn't have time.

EDIT besides, I am sure that after 187,000 miles, it could use a good cleaning

The dealer will have the 91-93 L67 gaskets in stock because they were also used in thousands of L27'*. SOME auto parts stores will have them. It is a plastic gasket with molded sealing material and crush bushings just like the LIM gaskets.

The 94/95 L67 TB gasket that we're discussing here is a paper gasket like the S2 L67.
