whats wrong with 98-02?
Hey guys, I was looking through a Consumer Reports mag last night for all the 2005 cars. It has the sections about used cars to buy and used to avoid. Under the avoid was Bonneville 98-02. Its on the list for having a larger amount of repair incidents than others. What are the specifics for that generation of Bonny?
Thanks
jeff

Yeah it seems that they have their years off for certain...
I believe that the 97,98 and somw 99 4T65-E'* had some serious durability issues that seem to have improved over time...
The intakes as far as we can tell had some serious issues, we don't even know if the change in the EGR inlet size was a true correction for the problem... Bur several here are testing it and so far so good... The real change was with the new alluminum upper intake on the Series III 3800... Shame on GM for not designing an alluminum replacement for the L36....
The steering rack noise issue, and window regulators were the others I think...

You can do the intake repair/replace for 150$ yourself, shop prices will vary greatly.
I've never believed a single thing that Consumer Reports has said, it'* more misleading than anything.
