Default I just owned a Cop car

I have to let you all know what happened yesterday.
There is a Minnesota State Trooper here in Sauk Centre who'* patrol car is a new 3800 powered Malibu.
Last night I was heading out of Sauk Centre when he pulled out behind me and turned his Cherries on. Right away I thought to myseld "what am I doing wrong? Or what did I do wrong?
So I pulled over and he comes up to my car and asks "Do you know why I stopped you?"
I reply "No, I do not."
He answers back with a grin "Because you've got a modified 3800 from what I hear and I thought since I drive one for my patrol car I'd see if anything can be done with mine?"
So then he proceeds onto ask what I've done and how hard it is to get another 20-30hp from his Series II. I told him about gutting the airbox, and doing a 2.5" muffler, a drilled 180* t-stat (especially on his squad car where higher temps will be seen quite often), and removing the MAF screen and I told him about the performance shop about 25 miles away that does computer programming for $125. I then opened my hood and started showing him the things I've done and was quite impressed.
He then asked me if I could take his Series II with my Series I. I said the only way to find out would be to a side by side comparison.
So then, what does he do but call a local cop to come out and watch us.
We then headed over to a minimum trafficed road with a 1 mile straight away with hay field on both sides.
We lined up and the local cop gave the sign to take off.
Of the start the trooper got a jump, but only until I was doing about 15-20, and from there on out until I hit 85 (I let off because he was obviously laying off). When I hit about 75 I had about 2 car lengths on him and I was definitely pulling faster and faster (my GM performance muffler and removed resonator has really helped both my HP and m torque all the way). Needless to say he and the city cop were quite bewildered. They never thought my car was going to beat him since he only has 6,500 miles on his Series II and I've got 195,000 on my Series I. He then told me to keep an eye open for some cheap mods for his car as he wants to be able to be able to keep up somewhat better with his LT1 ex-squad car Caprice which has 178,000 gard-driven miles on it.
Well, at least now I know I am half ready for Wednesday night racing. Now if I can get my new (new-to-me as it'* off the 93 Park Avenue Ultra parts car) fuel pump and tank put on before then and get the 103 octane in as well gutting the trunk and interior. Hopefulyl my header wrap comes in by Wednesday as I want to wrap my crossover pipe so the tb doesn't get so hot.
Anyhow just had to share this experience with you all.

How did he hear of your modified 3800? Cops aren't like that around here. They're the opposite. I've been pulled over for trivial, stupid reasons, but not for a friendly conversation. If any cop pulled me over to talk about my car I'd peel away with him at my window. Waste of my time.

I had a nice little drag for a couple seconds with Mike'* (sse1990) Malibu this past Saturday. Good times. But I didn't get a chance to race from a stop though.

No B.*. here, and yes it was a Impala not a Malibu (my bad, - I just don't pay a whole lot of attention the newer Chevy'* since I cannot afford one).
If you don't believe me, I will be more than happy to gave him post. Again, like I said, with the 3" Magnaflow the exhaust was to free flowing. Once I put the GM performance exhaust off my other Bonneville on I am betting that I gained 20-25 lb ft of torque back. The car (aside from the weak fuel pump when there is under 3/4 tank and when I raced I had a full tank so there was no bogging) was running a heck of alot better than it ever has by far.
I also have my time slip here showing my 10.1 in the 1/8 mile which is about what a SII SSEi runs. If I can get my new fuel pump and tank in tomorrow I am hoping for high 9'*, but expecting low 10'* again in the 1/8 (different track at a higher elevation), and in the 1/4 I have my fingers crossed for low-mid 15'*. Right when I got my car I had it g-teched (never know if these are accurate) at 15.2 and I have more hp and torque now. With my pump cutting out last week I still ran a 16.6 on the same G-tech my friend ran a 14.6 on with his Dodge Shadow. Without changing anything he went to the strip that night and ran a 14.3.
Anyhow until I get my time slip I do not any way to PROVE it unless I can get the trooper or the local cop to stop in here to back me up, which the odds are not very likely.
Here are a list of the mods and shape of my car at the time we ran.

Cold Air intake
Ram air ducting
Removed MAF screen
180* t-stat drilled w/2 1/8" holes
NGK TR55 V-power plugs
Taylor 8mm Spiro Pro wires
GM performance 2.25" exhaust with dual 2.25" outlets (w smoother bends than the original exhaust)
Removed resonator
93 octane pump gas + one bottle of octane boost
fresh pcv valve
fresh fuel filter
fresh Mobil 10W30 oil
freshly cleaned tb
removed spare tire, jack, and all trunk insulation
I had just cleaned the car so other than me (140 lbs) the only thing in the car other than the standard interior was my 2 books of 48 cds each (3-4 lbs max), my single 12" subwoofer in a box with the RF 200m amp -which have a total combined weight of 35 lbs
I have also taken care of my previous bogging problem by wrapping a ground wire that had 4" of it'* insulation torn off so it was improperly grounding out on the front head.

Anyhow, keep tuned and I will provide the time slips to prove I have a modded Series I 3800 that can and does beat Stock Series 3800'*.

P.*. I am not mad that you are saying BS Russianpolarbear, as I to have seen posting that I didn't trust. I know I also should have proof to back up my kills (which I have, but it'* a hard case when the only witness is not likely to show up here just to back me up) over some lousy (to him race).
Once I get them the time slips will prove that my car is quicker than most stock Series II'*. If his squad car had a few more miles he would have made it a much closer race as with 6500 miles his motor has a long ways to go before it is fully broken in (which I would bet probably would have him right on my bumper if not next to me).

Until, I get my slips keep firing the BS meters,

I can't believe a cop friggin called another cop so he could race you. Well, I believe you obviously, but I'm surprised one did. Cops have nothing to do around here, but they wouldn't make time to race anyone. But it'* pretty cool he did. So are the cops there bored or somethin'?
