Why is pontiac so anti-RWD ??
Man I give my left but to have a RWD in the 3.8 SC ...but.... :?
I mean I just saw they have the GXP bonneville and then I read a V8 and then saw the dreaded FWD ...
Am I missing something or whats so special about FWD in a performance type ride like that ?
Maybe It is becasue I grew up wirth RWD cars and never cared for FWD personally ...

GM began the transition to FWD in the mid-80s...because at the time it was cheaper, safer, and generally more desirable by the public. So, as a result, GM geared up everything for FWD production. That'* why the Bonneville, GP, Park Ave, Lucerne are all FWD...GM doesn't want to spend the money to re-tool and re-engineer everything...basically.
But for the majority of the public this is a good thing, FWD IS safer, especially in the winter. The only time RWD can even compare is when it is coupled with expensive traction and stability control systems, ala BMW etc.

Really think about this one
Ok if your front wheels start to spin you dont only loose traction but all control of steering.
How is that better and safer :?:
Iv driven FWD, RWD and 4x4'* in the winter. Between FWD and RWD, RWD you can control you car much easier in the snow then FWD. Back ends start to slined, let off gas....
Front end not turning fast nuff, Give it a bit more gas and the back end will do the turning for ya
Ok back on topic, I cant wait for GM to bring back all more RWD cars, Its going to be much better for Preformace and driving and Fun
