Default A bit of repair.. and PAINT! Need opinions.

So i posted about my incident with a moron driver, but i think we have figgured this out. We got a quote from the dealer (approx $1500 in repairs) and we are going to claim on the dudes insurance for that, then we are going to replace the fender ourselves and then use the money to have the dealer put a new coat of paint on the whole car. How much would a high-quality (meaning: lasts 10 years or more) paint job cost? I dont necessarily have to goto the dealer, but i want something thats good. All the horizontal surfaces on my car have little cracks in the paint below the clear coat and so it looks pretty nasty upclose. The dealer said they would probably have to at least recoat the whole top of the car to be even able to match the paint of the new fender.

I would like to get it painted in a different color, but a) its hard to match a red/maroon interior b) i dont want mismatched doorjams and underhood colors and c) my dad most likely wouldnt let me.

But if you all have any color thoughts as options just incase that would be great too!

you are looking at about a $1500 job with all the prep work...

you can do the prep work yourself but most shops dont approve of that

try and find someone local that can cut ya a deal

On the farm we use all PPG Delstar paint, and have several pieces of equipment that still look new 10 years after being painted. Prep work is key. You've gotta take it down to bare metal and start again with primer for a perfect finish.
