I recieved my new bulbs last week. I installed the 9005s as described in the link above. They are much whiter than silverstars, and a bit brighter, i just hope that they last longer than the silverstars did, but for $32 for all 4 bulbs i cant complain nearly as much as i did about the silverstars the price is unbeatable, and im so far greatly impressed with the quality of light output.
i got them from http://xenonlightshid.com/

I had the same feeling on the Silverstars, when they lasted me just over a year. As much as they cost, it would seem they should last longer. Then, when I thought what I pay for other regular maintenance items, I figured it really wasn't all that much of a cost, especially as I haven't found anything that I like better when it comes to lighting up the road. Until I do, at a reasonable cost, I guess I'll be sticking with the Silverstars.

It is unfortunate that the DOT standard in the US for headlight output is so crappy. Some folks on the Impala SS forum have gotten around this issue by replacing the US spec headlight assemblies with European assemblies. The European assemblies are glass and have a much better, stricter standards for light output and the light is MUCH more focused than our US standard.
I have no idea if Pontiac sells "ECE" (as they are called) headlight assemblies for our cars, or even if Pontiac puts a different headlight lense into European cars. I know they (GM) do for Impalas, so it might be worth a shot.
Here is a link to my friend Scott Mueller who founded this mod for the Impala folks. Read through his article. It helps to explain the benefits...

The other thing you can do to increase light output is to wire the bulbs directly to the battery. By using a harness with relays, you setup the harness so that power is applied directly to the bulbs via the battery (using thicker gauge wires to help with light output and resistance), meanwhile your factory wiring is retained if you use factory connectors in your harness. To make a long story short folks from toher car forums have noticed a nice improvement in output at night with using a headlight --> battery harness. I think they run about $60-$70.
Toasted, good luck with your new bulbs, Merry Christmas, hope to see ya soon. Things have been very busy here.
