Default How do I properly disarm my airbag system in my 96 Olds Achieva

When I bought the car the owner at the time for it to pass inspection it was gonna need a driver side airbag due to it went off because of the SRS sensor below the passenger side seat shorted out. I had my local shop confirm what they said about the airbag to find out it was true. They also said that was a common problem with the achieva'*, the airbags will just go off for no real reason. So for me to get it to pass inspection I am gonna go and get an airbag and an SRS module this Friday from my local junkyard. So when I due this I am gonna need yalls helpful advice on how to properly disarm my airbag system so I don't set off my passenger side airbag. Any and all advice will be helpful. Thanks.

Disconnect the battery. Short the 2 battery cables together for a few seconds.

Pull down the passenger side kick panel(under dash) and find the 2 yellow wires. Find the quick disconnect and disconnect that.

Proceed to remove the ABS module under the seat.

So how due I finish removing the remaining part of the driver side airbag. The airbag was cut out but the other part of it is still attached to the steering wheel.

That part I'm not sure about. I know on the bonnevilles, there are 4 screws on the backside of the steering wheel that you remove and it just pops out.

Once you disconnect the 2 main cables from the battery, connect them together. This will short out any voltage remaining in the system.

If the security light is flashing when the car is off and you disconnect the battery, Theft-Lock will be enabled and render the radio useless. Disable the Theft-Lock BEFORE you disconnect the battery.

You can also turn your headlight switch on for a few minutes after you disconnect the battery. That will also drain any electricity left in the system

How due I find out it the theft lock is still active. I only got a key with the car and nothing else when I bought it. I only noticed the anti theft when I was setting up the radio stations to my liking. Also my turn signal switch is broken. My light come on and stay on for how ever long I am in the car but will go off when I turn off the key. It also affects the tail lights to. The come on to when I start the car so in all reality I am running my night time lights all the time. That is how I found out that part of my turn signal switch wasn't working right.
