I'd say go for it. From what I have heard, a turbo 3800 is easier on a transmission than a supercharged 3800, simply because the power increase is more steady. Its not instantaneous. That, and absence of parasitic loss should have you getting better fuel economy as well.
Chain stretching really wasn't a thing untill more people started turboing.
