Default GM Tech I Scanner

Would this scanner be of any use to a 95 SSEi? It doesn't come with the proper cables but I was just wondering. I don't even know what it'* capable of.

Where did you get that? That thing will do ABS codes!

Who'* got a '95 FSM? Does it mention the TECH1? I assume it does, But I wouldn't bet my cash yet.

A friend of mine lent me one exactly the same with a few cables but none to match the 95. I was thinking of purchasing it and getting the proper cable, but first I didn't know whether it would work with my car and how valuable it is.

Is it really one of the better one'* around, in other words, should I offer to purchase it? Will it work on my 95? And what should I offer, since I don't want to offend with a lowball offer.

Thanks

Dame...what is that answering? (In the OBDII world a TechI is nothing.)

Does anyone know if this will work on a 95?

Called Mechanic Dan.. being that he was at the dealerships during all the Tech I vs Tech II years. He said that technically 95 is considered ALDL and not OBDII because of the protocol. The Tech I works on ALDL and would need the right cable to work on the 95.

In theory ...it should work with the right cable.

Thanks Bill, now my question is, what should I offer for it, and keep in mind that I still have to purchase the cable. It sure would be nice if it does ABS codes also. I'm not even sure if he would want to sell it, but if it'* not to expensive I may ask.

ALDL = On Board Diagnostic One, as in OBDI

That scanner will only read ABS codes with ANOTHER proprietary cable that interfaces directly to the EBCM.

Sorry Will, can you elaborate on that please? I would have to purchase a cable and attach it where?

Thanks
