Default Getting a new one!! =D

So, GM is giving me $3500 to junk the old 'un, which = Rachael wants to buy an SSEi, like she'* always wanted

I found this:

http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...=&fuel=&doors=

It seems like a really good price. I'm already waiting to hear back about the transmission and condition of the interior. But I've never had an SSEi before, so I don't really know what to ask, I only know that everyone worries about transmissions with these...

Suggestions?

Yeah, that'* ruddy, but I can put up with that for the supercharger. But lemme get this straight- L67'* don't have the notorious intake failure problems, right?

Only LIM gasket failures/deterioration(sp)

Cloth FTW...warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer.

Are you able to keep your old car? If you can, you have a parts car and vultures on this site who will buy parts from it

See if you can find a 97'and preferablly white, j/k. It seemed like 97' was a good year for these cars, the SSEi'* anyway'*

Well, GM'* kinda paying me 3500 for a parts car, so they can do whateeeever they want with it Although I do wish I could just swipe the Bose outta there to put it in my next one.. eh.

I tried searching for a sort of "96-99 SSEi Common Problems" thread, but I could only find a few bits and pieces. Could someone give me a brief little rundown of what I should watch out for when I test it?

Make sure that has 9 switches between the seats to control the seats. There'* nothing like an AL7 seat.

The CCR switch. You should have 5 buttons in a row on the left of the shifter. The go, in order of:

Peformance Shift
Normal Shift
Traction Control
Peformance Ride
Touring Ride

Make sure that the peformance ride and touring rige lights are not illuminated at the same time - one or the other, not both.

Take the VIN of the SSEi to the dealership and tell then you want a VIS sheet for the car. It will give you all the RPO codes, build date and any maintence peformed at a GM dealership. Or I can do it for you

Check the trans fluid BEFORE it is started, make sure it'* red. - bright red and o nthe stick where it needs to be.

Check the coolant for 1. prpoer lever, 2 proper color, 3 no crap or floaties in it

Oil - should be a good color and good on the stick

Crawl under the car and look at the bottum of the struts and make sure they are not leaking

Before I go on ranting, do you have any specific questions? These cars need maintence, but if you treat them good, they will return the favor

I agree completely. There is nothing like the 9 way power seats. My GXP has pine boards compared to my SSE.
