i put cooper lifeliners on my Monte carlo. Brand new with the nubbies

I called my buddy said.."fred i need the tires on that Monte in your yard, the green one that got rear ended. he says ok. I say i want the rims too.. he says why you don't need rims.. I say.. Cause all i got is like 2 hours on Sunday before I gotta go back to jail again." So anyway 100 bucks for 4 new tires and rims. I put it up on the lift and swapped em.

All in all what I am trying to say is.... If you're broke the boneyard is good place to look.

If you buy tires... buy good ones so you're not doing it every year.

And on this subject I wonder how RWL tires would look on the bonne ???

actually if i ever got tires for my car i got them from the "junk" pile behind the local GM Dealer. They don't care if you take em... just means they dont have to pay to get rid of em. The last set i got had about 75-80% tread left... for free

After having an accident in dry, summer conditions on a decently kept road due to my tires not being able to stop my car, there'* NO substitute for a quality tire.

They're the only thing holding your car in it'* line, stopping it, and turning it. I will never run questionable tires again.

How fast were you going and under what circumstances? Any tire will have a hard time stopping you if youre going fast, especially on a "decently kept road" not too mention the fact that Bonneville'* are underbraked to begin with.

In dry conditions I find it extremely hard to believe that tires were 100% the cause of any accident.

$100 for a mount and balance thats alot! I know the auto repair shop thats attached to the machine shop I work at (same owner) charges $8 per tire to mount and balance & $5 a tire if you bought the tire through the shop.
Our mechanics always have a pile of tires with lots of tread on them incase anyone wants or needs one or more.

Good sound advice. Your life is riding on your tires. I guess you can buy used, but I've never compromised when it comes to replacing tires on a vehicle. Just My .02
