Hey folks,
Quick question, are the newer GM cars still OBD2 as far as using a scan tool?
I have a scan tool that I used to hook up to my laptop for the wife'* and my car when I needed to check the engine service light. Unfortunately, I have two problems now. First my new lappy doesn't have the same connector, and second, it (the program)doesn't run under windows vista 64. The software was from digimoto. I can't even get my laptop to read the CD, so I can't even install it and change to xp compatibility!
I am considering getting a new tool and updated program, but since my wife'* car is a 99, and mine is a 00, we don't know if the same OBD2 hook up is used on new GM cars. If not, it would be a waste to get it as we will retire her car soon, and mine a few years from now.
thanks!

The newest GM cars have changed to a CAN bus. Not sure exactly what is entailed with this...but there is a change. I bellieve this began somewhere around 05.
HP Tuners software and package while being pricey does support OBD and CAN from what I've seen. There are also some scan tools out there that support both based on a cable change IIRC.

Awesome, thanks!
edit* posted at the same time. I'll look into my options. I will most likely stay GM as I've always been a fanboi, though I'm not sure how I feel about the government owning 60 percent... but I digress as this may be a touchy subject with some folks.
