Default 8 cylinder Bonneville?

Hello All

I'm not real knowledgeable about Bonnevilles - even though we currently own 2, and have a couple of questions:

1. I got behind a late model Bonneville yesterday, looked similar to my '02, and it had dual split tailpipes (like my '95 TA), and the rear bumper had a small emblem that said "8 Cylinder." What models, years ,and engine sizes did this apply to? I didn't know that the late model Bonnies had 8 cylinder engines available!

2. How many models were there of the Bonneville? In other words, there have been 6 version of Corvettes and they are referred to as : C1 through C6.
F-bodies (Firebirds and Camaros) are known as 1st generation - 4th generation for the body styles.
Do Bonnevilles have similar designations?

Thanks!
Max

Well yes, that was a GXP and those are available 2004 and 2005

and Bonnevilles from 87-05, the modern FWD H bodies, have had the LE, SE, SLE, SSE, SSEi and GXP designations. We have had 8 different power spec ratings on 2 different sizes of engines.

If you want to know alot more about them, go ahead and read the Bonneville wikipedia article, it has lots of info on the stuff you wanna know. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pontiac_Bonneville

So I counted 6 styles; making my '97 a "B5" and my '02 a "B6?"

Thanks for the Wikipedia link. Very informative! Wish I had one of those 8 cylinder Bonnies - maybe my next car will be an '04 or '05!

I'd call your 97 a B8 and the 02 a B9, but you'll get different suggestions from different people.

Yeah, I don't think the Bonneville has had many totally new designs like the Camaro or Corvette, they have been a little more subtle with a couple exceptions like the 00+. I think I would consider it to have 8 generations myself, but that'* debatable.
