Is there any way to change the ECC?

Possibly more, including the Stereo. Not sure about the 94/95, but the 92/93 get their power for the VF display on the Stereo from the ECC. Or the other way around. One feeds the other.

Wierd.......When I get my FSM from EBAY I'll have to look that up.....

Pretty sure the Stereo gives the dim command to the ECC. With an aftermarket stereo installed, the VF display on the ECC should be full bright. A real PITA at night. Refer to Techinfo for more info. Fuddy wrote an article on this.

Yeah, mine is controlled by the stereo. You cannot put a HU from a Manual Controlled 87-91 in an ECC equiped one to have the brightness work properly. You could test this, if you unplug the HU, and try adjusting the brightness. If it works properly, then your ECC controls the HU, but if it doesn't work, than your HU controls the ECC. You could test this on the donar, and recipient.

Whats this about the dimmer not working with an aftermarket HU?? Im pretty sure my ECC dims with the rest of the guages, and i have an HU....

That brings up an interesting point. I don't know.. do you have it hardwired, or do you have a converter, with the stock wiring?
