Default Turbo

Should I, shouldn't I?

Can get a complete turbo kit for $1,000 ....which happens to be in my pocket, oddly because the guy selling the kit brought his car over for work.

I gotta tumor

On the Regal it'* like a one day install. Quick and easy, bolt on.

Why not, this is supposed to be my DD. You are a little new to understand what I've already done/experienced in the Bonne. To sum it up .... my motor makes Dan'* look like it'* stock while it has murdered more transmissions than you have fingers.

I would think you could pull better fuel mileage out of the turbo without sacrificing performance. Reason # 1?

Some people say that Superchargers sound good, well... Take it from a guy who has a */c car and a turbo car... You cannot beat the sound of a turbo.

And they are so much more fun. Turning up the boost is a matter of turning a ***. Absolutely get the turbo.

I thought the whole thing with the Regal was because it'* lighter then the Bonny and with less power hard to eat trannys?

It'* going to be hard to keep the boost down on a turbo setup and therefore your trans would be in trouble.

Nope, the Regal is the DD. Bought and modded to be the DD. The evil motor sits in the corner like a bad child. The two race transmissions, I'm going through and fixing. The current one will get V8 chains, tightened up clutch packs and all the other usual goodies that are already in it from building up a trans. The motor might be demodded, it might fall into a fiero. Jury is out on that.

I could justify it many ways. One being that I'll have a seriously built trans on the shelf to go in when the stocker (167K, feels like 5K) decides to check out.

The "good" voice says there would never be enough "one more part, a little more power" just like the Bonneville. That same voice says W bodies break axles easier than the 97 H etc etc.

Overall, after riding in Ben'* Regal, I say go for it! He only had rockers (1.8 IIRC) as his actual engine mod and daily drove his Regal just like you do, but faster. The exhaust was nice and quiet even though it was a straight pipe down to a cat and a resonator. Also, if you do go for the turbo, be sure to switch engines because his is a 30-40K mile L32 shortblock with L36 heads, and you know the awesome intake.

Actually, can you just do a complete engine bay swap? That Ferrari power steering fluid pump reservoir plus all the other little touch-ups would be a pretty decent upgrade. Then, rebuild your friend'* transmission and he'll be all set with an L67 from your Regal.
