Default Another bad tensioner pulley

Tensioner went this week, c. 130,000 mi (first time). A few questions for anyone: the pulley is very close to the alternator fan blade: 1) is it supposed to be this close, and 2) how do you "reload" the tensioner? The pulley is metal, and bearings were shot. Had the whistling noise I read about in other posts. Thanks.

Hmm, mine has gone to, it sits close to the alternator. To unload it, take a socket and drive, and put it on the pulleys bolt, and push downward. that should move the pulley downward slakcing off the belt.
