Default how often should i do a tune up.? i cant rember the last one

i think it was maybe when i first got the car in the begining of the summer (july/august) sometime. i know the 88 had it last tune up about a year ago..

so how often do i do a tune up.
and im about to do a oil change on the 95 so how many quarts and what kind of oil would be the best to use.? and do i change the oild filter too.. i changed that at the last tune up in the begining of the summer 4500 miles ago

desperatley need oil change.

and believe it or not i have 2 brand new gas filters for the 88 and 95 and did not put either on yet because i could not get them off with the fear of braking the line'* as they both felt very stuck and would not budge at all..

but know i found out about some miracle stuff called (PB BLASTER) from some members here and i think i can get them on now if i spray the connections down over night.

This isn't a Performance topic. Please read the Forum descriptions before posting. The greatest frustration amongst the Staff right now are the incredible amount of mis-placed posts we have to move.

From personal experience Get some Mobil 1, 6 quarts and a Mobil 1 filter will do ya. 5 goes into the motor and an extra to top off if/when needed

For changing the filter I got a filter wrench. about $6 at Advance. They also run a sale in my area. 5 quarts of Mobil 1 plus the filter for $30.

Hope that helped.

Here is my entire maintenance regimen (for my bonneville of course)

Every 3,000 - 5,000 Miles
Change Mobil 1 & PureONE filter (5 quarts with filter)
Grease Ball Joints & Tie Rods
Inspect CV Boots
Check battery electrolyte level (add only distilled water to 1/2 inch below vent holes)

Every 10,000 miles
Replace air filter (paper element) Replace with Purolator PureONE

Every 15,000 Miles
Change/Flush Transmission Fluid & Filter (drain, fill, drive, drain, filter, fill, or flush)
Pull plugs, check wear characteristics, replace if necessary.

Every 20,000 miles
Replace Fuel Filter
Clean TB (MAF & IAC incl)
Clean Battery Cables (apply dielectric)

Every 30,000 miles
Replace ignition plug wires
Replace spark plugs
Clean Coil Backing/Mount Plate

Every 50,000 miles
Flush cooling system

Every 100,000 miles
Replace Oxygen Sensor (Heated)

You shouldn't have any problems with the fuel filter on the 95 (unless they switched back to metal fittings) the lines are plastic)

I use an oil filter for a 4.3 GMC V6. It is a little bit longer and holds more oil. I always ask for a filter for a 1990 S15 with the 4.3 V6. And never buy Fram filters.
If you change your oil regularly, you don't need synthetic oil for a 95 Bonneville, or any year Bonneville. It is better oil, sure. But the added expense isn't necessary. On the other hand, if you are one to neglect your car'* maintenance, then you may be better off with the best oil you can find.

I believe that since my car has 291K miles on the block, it'* a good idea to run a good oil like Mobil 1 synthetic and the extended oil filter. That would be Purolator 24011, Mobil 1 M1-201, AC Delco PF-52, and so on.

As for the lines, I am aware you have the half-metal, half-plastic fuel filter. You will need line wrenches for the filter so that it doesn't crack your lines. If you do end up with bad lines, you'll have to put in a new fuel line. It'* not too bad, but it is not defined as "routine maintenance."

Well, wjcollier07 generally got it all. I'm going to buy his used cars.
