If you had exhibit A, would you be ashamed to post this pic and paint it when it is off the car?

If you had exhibit B, would you be under there polishing it to keep any corrosion off it?

Well, exhibit B looks nicer and probably has the advantage of offering some extra cooling, but Exhibit A is more flexible and can handle your off-roading events better..... :P

I can't imagine that you'l have to polish "B" very often.

Personally, with a factory installed oil cooler, an aluminum pan would be of no benefit to me. I'd rather have steel which is stronger, more resilient, and invisible to passers-by.

Aluminum will break if you take a 'road shot'. The road debris (in the dark) that caused the damage you see was done the night I tested the Gen3 swap for the first time. I ran over a
BLACK oil-filled radiator style heater that night. 50mph. It actually lifted the car.

Your aluminum pan would have shattered, dumping your oil all over the road.

The new pan is tucked up higher than the subframe. Looks like it'* protected well.

Luckily my engine doesn't run hot enough to need an oil cooler.

That wouldn't have saved you from what I hit.

Then why the added cooling benefit of an aluminum pan?

My car doesn't run hot either. But my oil lasts longer due to the OEM oil cooler.

The added sealing benefit of the newer style gasket on the aluminum pan. To fix what was found to most likely be a rear engine cover loose bolt issue. Oddly enough the AZ crew found the same on Ben'* car.

And..I treat my car better than running over radiators.

The thread is designed around appearance. I didn't have a pic of my old oil pan and remembered you had one that was similar looking.

Personally, I don't call something unerneath the car an appearance issue. I rarely park on mirrors with bright lights around them.
