Almost a year ago (last March) I got new TR55'* in my car when I did my UIM swap with Bill Buttermore. It REALLY woke the car up again, but over the past year I noticed, gradually, that it didn't seem to have the same pickup I remembered. Well today I dropped in some brand new TR55'* and GOOD GOD! My car feels like a new beast! I had no idea so much could change over only 10 months, but I was shocked how the car woke up again. Well my car by NO means felt slow, but I knew it wasn't feeling like last March.
Here'* a shot of one of the plugs after 10 months (20,000 miles). To me they seem as normal plugs should. The gaps averaged between .061" and .063". Specs say .060" by the way.


So, is this normal? How often do you guys change yours? God knows I'll be on a 3 month rotation since I paid less than $12 for the set.

Actually I do mine about once a year regardless what the manual says.

Here is a pretty decent site for pictures on fouling. If your car woke up from a plug change after 20,000 then it would seem your plugs may have fouled.

Please note also that I've got Potenza G009'*. Not your super high performance tire but it'* a far cry from economy as many of the other guys running them can attest.
I never got an all out 0-60 run. Here'* me rolling into 10mph and then giving it all. 2/3 tankfull gas.

Traction off, but wheel speed sensor still plugged in. Spinning to 40 Never been able to do that before.

Rolling at 15 then gunning to 55. This thing gets happy after 3k rpms.

Again, I'd like to say that my car didn't feel slow, but this was definitely noticeably better. Gaps were only slightly larger and it was light tan in color and dry.

Not too shabby! I need to do the same to my 99...the TR55s have about 50K on them.

I would like to see some videos showing a little higher speed. Maybe a 50 roll to about 90.

After reading this thread it makes me want to go out to the garage right now and change my plugs. I have the originals in :( , with over 130,00 on them lol. I have some autolite 605'* sitting right here, hmmmm.

DO it! Unfortunately living in the Chicago area doesn't give me much room to really stretch out my legs. I have a feeling it'd be strong up top as well. Next time I go home to WI I'll be able to really test things out.
