I'm new so please bear with me. I posted this somewhere else, i don't kno how to get to the lounge yet, I'll find it, I always do! Anyway, where r the serial #'* on my 3800 Seris II and do these #'* appear in the vin #? I'm swapping a 1997 Buick with a 2005 Imp. and want to kno if both engines came with these vehicles. I believe I have to change a motor mount, oil filter adapter, fuel rails, and oil pan. Tell me I didn't make a mistake and bought the pan gasket from Advance Auto. I haven't installed it yet. If theres a better replacement, please let me kno. I did also purchase the other neccesary gaskets as well.

this is a good spot for this i think the lounge is for non gm talk.
as far as the gasket i just did the one on my 98 bonnie and got a felpro from advance and it said it was revised design with thicker sealing surfaces, and that the regular ones work free and the bolts leak. and when i looked at my oem one sure enough the bolt all had oil on them. as far as where the numbers are dont know, probably not in the vin. the vin will just say that it had x model engine. i would do valve cover gaskets while you have it apart and try to see if the plentum looks like it has been replaced if not it will need to be.
