I was just talking to someone and they told me if I smoke the tires on my car...it will blow up, lol ookaaay. Thats a new one on me

What are we blowing up? 
You could pop a transmission or related downstream components, especially with a sudden gain of traction.
Or you could pop tires themselves from the heat.

Yeah, if your tires go out followed by the sudden effective traction gain from the metal slamming into the ground below and bending, you would also damage your transmission. You might also bend the car body, or at least the A-frame, if that happens. There'* nothing in a car that can really explode as you think, but enough can go wrong that you would rather junk it than fix it.

You're lucky because you learned of the white curse pretty early on without structural damage or an explosion of sorts. 
Also, you're lucky because you own a 94 Bonneville. 
So, no crazy stuff... The 4T60E-HD transmission that we have is a good and solid one, and it should last you a long, long time if you are nice to it. The worst I've had happen with mine is an electrical issue. The hard goods are still just fine!
