Not a lot of time today, but I just got another hour in. Total time is 3 hours now.
Removed the throttle body.
Popped off the supercharger, need to clean up the gasket surfaces.
Intercooler core cme off easy. It'* annoying me because I can't get it out of my way.
Removed the thermostat housing and suck out the coolant with a shop vac. This really helps keep the mess down, hardly anything drips in to the cam valley.
Last year I changed my LIM gaskets and I used the plastic gaskets because I knew I was pulling them again in a year. I wanted to see how they held up. There are some who insist that DEX cool kills these gaskets and you should get that junk out of your engine NOW!! Well, after one year, and I might add this engine has had green in it the whole time these gaskets were in place. So these NEVER saw DEX. I rest my case, the gasket is in the early stages of failing exactly like the DEX hatters claim. The problem is the gasket, not the coolant.
LIM removed.
And starting to run out of time. I removed the rockers.
Looking a little bare in here.
My old 1.9:1 HS roller rockers. I'm going to put these up for sale, $250 shipped. Come with modified pedestals and reusable rocker bolts.
Should have some more time this after noon, so more pictures will be coming.

Not the first time I've done this, so I know what order to go in, that helps a ton, as well as having the right tools and a air compressor with a air ratchet.

More time.. from where you are at..
Pull pushrods
Pull lifters
Pull timing cover
I noticed you still have the alt and coils on the motor. Might be easier if you pulled them. It opens things up greatly, but then I might be talking w body at the moment.
Secret of the day. One of the timing cover bolts is behind the standoff for the #9 pulley. A quick minute with a grinding tool allows you access tot he bolt w/o pulling off the stand. FYI, one or two of the stand bolts are into a water jacket.

Well, made good progress today.
Good thing I had some heat, otherwise it would have been cold.
Unhooked the trans mount.
Took off the alternator and tensioner.
Now I removed the timing chain cover.
timing chain and gears removed.
Good thing I changed this. The tensioner is broken.
108,000 miles
Removing the old cam, but it wont come out. With this body style you can't lower the engine far enough to get the cam out the wheel well.
You can see the cam is a few inches to high.
After a call from Billboost we decided to drop the sub frame.
How many jacks does it take?
After removing 4 of the 6 bolts I finally got it just low enough to get the cam out.
Putting some assembly lube on the new cam.
Took a while but I finally got every in and got the sub frame bolted back up.
New tensioner, chain and sprockets.
Finally on the putting things back stage. Felt great flipping the levers on all the ratchet wrenches.
So much stuff.
Pile o parts is getting smaller.
Time to call it a night.
Got about 6.5 hours now. Don't think I'm going to make my 8 hour goal. Dropping the sub frame was unexpected and burned up another hour, plus I had to run and buy a 18mm socket. figures the set I have has 17mm and 19mm.
