I would definitely be up to returning help back to the site.
Maybe there could be something setup like BITOG has. It puts an icon in the avatar area on the supporting member'* names (if you haven't seen it already). I don't like the icons that they use, and think just a little blurb under the user'* name would be sufficient. Just something like "supporting member" by the user'* stars. I think that would be a nice 'thank you' for anyone that donates. Just a thought.

Im fine with the ads. Caddillacforums.com has the same thing going for them, have a look:

The ads are unobtrusive enough, and considering what we get from the site, it'* an extremely small price to pay. I did find the one posted when I first logged in announcing best pricing for a 2006 Pontiac Bonenville, interesting.

On a related note, malicious clicking won't help anybody -- the all-powerful Google can sense click fraud, and we don't want any problems.
YES, I had the google ads on my site, and a few members decided to "try and help out" and they caused me to loose my ability to have the adds on the site. They were each clicking on 2-3 links a day.
So don't abuse it or it will be lost.

We're talking million+ of hits a month. That equates to several thousands of dollar a year on hosting.
So we have a few ads...2? Worth it. Its not going to affect your day to day participation at BC.
Ads and donations (eventually) to keep the site going? or
And this all goes away, wouldnt be any sweat of the owners back.
