on the thread about my bonneville running a 16.9 somebody recommended cleaning my engine with sea foam. can anyone tell me where to buy this stuff and how much it costs? also give me some directions on the process. thanks

also on a different thread i was reading about somebody that did this and they said that there was alot of smoke when they had to burn this stuff off, how much smoke, is it going to look like a oil refinery burning down or like i am burning some oil, thank you

what does it really matter.. if you screw your engine in the process, you won't need to worry about your 16.9

cleaning an engine imo doesn't really do much, it'* the wear and tear and mileabge on it that really hits home hard in engine performance, and up-keep of proper fluids.

I also (if memory serves me right) read that it clogs up cat convertors..

Imo i'd leave it how it is and not bother.

It'* not likely to screw your engine. You can get it for a few bucks at most part stores. Look for the kind that has directions for putting it in the intake. I beleive there are a few kinds of Seafoam for different things.

In my experience, there was a HUGE amount of smoke. Between track runs of 15.59 and 15.09 all I did was change spark plug wires and run half a can of seafoam, and the air temp was 15* lower. Maybe the stuff helped, maybe it didn't.

It will clean out a bunch of the carbon in your engine. You can get it at most autoparts stores.

Yes it makes smoke. The amount will vary depending on how dirty your engine is. Mine made a very small cloud, but I have seen pictures where people smoke out whole neighborhoods.

i am not really worried about my cat because it is brand new, my old one was clogged, and this one has less than 1000 miles on it, i dont think this stuff would clog a brand new cat, or would it,

IF your engine is really dirty you could definately kill/ greatly reduce the flow of a new cat.

As stated it can be a little bit of smoke, or a lot, depending on how dirty your engine is.
