BC "Tool Exchange /Rental Program"?
A thread by Hans:
http://www.bonnevilleclub.com/forum/...ic.php?t=73448
got me to thinking...has anyone here ever tried to set up a members-only tool exchange / rental program so forum members can share or loan out those expensive and/or infrequently needed and/or use-it-once-or-twice-in-a-lifetime-GM-specialty tools?
So, workable idea, or asking for trouble? Hans' PayPal deposit idea sounds like a good model...
Guess it would have to start with a "database" of willing members and their toys...
For example, I have a Porter Cable 7424 DA buffer and full set of Lake Country Pads I only whip out every three or four months or so...seems a shame to let that sit on the shelf for most of its life when someone else could be benefiting from it.
I also have a KAL compression tester kit and a KAL engine oil/tranny fluid pressure tester kit that I use maybe once every few years.
I will eventually (if it ever GETS HERE ) have a DHP Tuner that I won't be using all the time...

Basically, those that live near each other already do. I live at least 12 hours from any other active member on this board, so such a program would not benefit me one iota.

Oh, shipping, eh? I guess that would be worth waiting for if the local AutoZone doesn't have it to loan out....

Well, aside from my current hiatus.... :P
I suppose something like a tool exchange would be quite helpful. How would it be organized?

only cool tools I have are cherry picker, compression gauge and the basics. When we did my brothers Lesabre transmission, we had to rent/borrow a few items. :(
I have only been your way once, my Brother-in-laws folks live in FT Scott and we stopped thru there on the way to help some more relatives move from Lenexa.
