ABS won't work if the SSS is lit. For some people that is a plus. Personally, I like ABS in the winter.

No, nothing is wrong with the scanner. In certain cases, codes sometimes do not show up and therefore it could be the WSS or stering wheel sensor or the Yaw sensor. These sensors don't always show up on the scanner.

That is very strange indeed. SSS is lit, but no readable codes using a Tech II and ABS is functioning. Can't say I have heard that one before.

Service Stability System Message
The message center displays the service stability system message when any one of many VSES-disabling DTCs is set. The EBCM sends a serial data message to the IPC requesting this display.

pretty much has to be a code, you are not going to get an erroneous serial data transfer
