Default Wanted to introduce myself and get some advice...

Hey all...

I just bought a new 2K2 SSEi. It has been awhile since I had a car with "bawls" and was surfing the net looking for performance add-ons. Needless to say, I haven't found a whole lot of Bonne-specific parts. Anyways, I did find you guys!

I am not new to playing with cars...it has just been a few years! The last "toy" I could play with was my '86 Monte SS. After the house, wife, kid, etc... it was 4-door family type vehicles for a long time.

My last car (r.i.p.) was an Olds Touring Sedan. More gizmos than anything this side of a Mercedes, but no real room for performance. I did buy the wife a '94 Bonne in '96, so I am not totally uninitiated to the group.

To make a short-story long, I got a divorce (yes, the ex still drives the Bonne), totalled the Olds and ended up with the SSEi.

I thought you all would like the smell of "new blood" and jump on the opportunity to educate me on the who-what-when and where'* of these great cars.

Thanks in advance!
Jay

Well I run Bonneville Intensity on Yahoo. Our Group'* bookmark section should be able to help you there. The link is in my signature below.

Well, welcome to the club. I am the one of the owners of Angry Duck Tofu Racing and we will be making parts for the Bonneville as well as other cars. Right now we are building our webpage www.AngryDuckTofuRacing.com. It does exsist, but we are still building the pages for it.

SpeedyGuy also is making products for the Bonneville and his business is called Domestic Performance. His website will be up soon as well.

If you ever have questions no matter how small or silly them may be, ask them and someone will have an answer. This board was meant to built to help everyone else out.

Some of the products that ADTR is designing/thinking about for the Bonneville/Grand Prix is Intake (will be out soon), Exhaust, Subframe Connectors, Nitrous Kit for the L36, Brake kit for W/H-Body, Koni adjustable stuts, bigger sway bars, etc etc.

So welcome to the club and I hope we can help you out and we can learn from you as well.

Well, since you have a brand new ssei, you have the exact same drive train as the Grand Prix GTP'*. You both have the L67 3800 series 2 engine and the 4t65e-HD transmissions. So pretty much anything that is made for the GTP engine/transmission will work on your car. You will need to buy a Cold Air Intake from Angry Duck and they have yet to officially release a SSEi computer chip (pcm).

The most favorable retailers that I do business with are as follows:

store.clubgp.com
www.grandprixstore.com
www.3800performance.com
www.zzperformance.com

On a side note, the owner of 3800performance.com (Intesnse) which is Scott Cook has a 2k SSEi that pushes out over 400 hp and is ranked #2 in the Grand Prix 1/4 speeds.

See here:
http://www.clubgp.com/cgi-asp/qtrmile.asp

Another good location for advice is the clubgp.com forums. They are kinda only for gp'*, but they have advice and sections for all cars with the 3800 series engine in it.

Let me say on a side note, i am very jealous of your new car. I would LOVE one of those :(

I definetely agree with skza (both about the GTP'* and being jealous :P ) To start off you should get a Cold Air Intake like skza mentioned, put a smaller pulley on your supercharger (3.4" while replacing the whole nose drive Ex: http://www.grandprixstore.com/Mercha...egory_Code=004 ), and open up your exhaust a bit. Those 3 mods alone will give you some pretty satisfying results. For a little bit extra money like $80, it really wouldnt hurt to put a transmission cooler on, and a 180 degree thermo, just for protection.

Other than that, the choices are really endless as far as the motor goes!! Go to Http://www.grandprixstore.com and look at the "under the hood" section. Just about EVERYTHING under there will work with your car, with the exception of the cat-back and PCM kits, its the same motor!! No need for special Bonneville only parts, you have everything right there You also have the 4T65E-HD Tranny too, which means all of the GTP AutoTrans Interceptors and shift kits will work too.

Anyways, welcome to the club!! I'm sure most will agree, that with this forum alone you can pretty much find any answers you need!! It sure has helped me!

Mod Mod Mod !!!! Lets Go!! We want pics!!! :o

Wow...thanks for the warm welcome!

First of all, I have had some time now to browse through the rest of the site and gotten some good ideas on what is available/possible. However, I see that some of the Bonny-specific stuff I am looking for seems pretty rare.

My goal is to get a modular pully system (pretty standard), PCM upgrade and match it with a new cold air intake and a cat-back exhaust. The last two don't seem to be readily available as aftermarket direct.

I am looking to add a new cold air box in addition to the intake. The Thrasher one looks great, but I am not sure if it fits a Bonnevile without major modifications. The same goes for the exhaust. GTP owners have alot to choose from, but not us. I don't mind doing a custom install, but why "reinvent the wheel" if some company has a bolt-on system that fits like stock.

I guess I should get off my butt and start talking to some of these vendors directly!

Thanks for the links...this is a great source.

Terminator:
I will try to get some pic'* of the SSEi soon.

boseman350:
The ex has all the old pic'* but I will try to get some sometime.
A little background on the SS Mod'* if the be@tch wont give me the pic'*:
Hypertech Stage II chip
165 degree stat
True duals with twin cats and crossover
DynoMax mufflers
Chrome dual tips (pre-rice days - we called them "twice pipes")
K&N air cleaner
American Racing rims w/ General 245-60R15'*
140 MPH speedo

It was silver with most of the striping removed. It had factory T-top'* and I added a bra to the front. The biggest problem was the silver paint, it flaked off like crazy leaving the black primer underneath. The car looked like it was sprayed with asphalt! The Arlington, TX plant where it was made was notorious for having problems with silver paint on all cars.

Give speedyguy and myself some time and we are developing Bonneville realted parts. Trust me, I have plans for my Bonneville to hunt for Corevette'* (in a straight line).

Oh .Oh. Oh. LOL Hello Jstpsntym Welcome. Yes actually the thrasher unit is nice and the GP store will sell you anything you want. I don’t believe the thrasher air intake cold air box is usable on a Bonneville. The cone filter that the angry duck crew is making is going to be your best bet. So as for the computer issue I will offer a regular replacement chip specifically for the Bonneville. I will also be setting up exhaust options all these options are not cheap and most people are not willing to spend the money when they see the cost. That said I will not rush, but this month the site will be up and will have some of the products available. I think you will find that in the next 2 years there will be actual growth for the Bonneville aftermarket.

I will be making affordable cat back exhausts for the Bonneville/Grand Prix and it should cost about 1/2 as much as the $550 that all the other ones charge.
