Default Has anybody ever shipped their Bonneville?

The reason I ask is that I may be doing it sometime within the next 6 months...

Where would the tie-down points be on a 2005 B-ville GXP? I may be moving the car from Hawaii to the mainland, and I want to make sure the gov't shippers don't throw tiedown chains over the half-shafts (I know they would, in an instant...these people aren't hired for their brillance).

This isnt 1966 with the first Toronado that a tow truck driver ever ran into, im sure these guys know NOT to use the axles.... Remember, probably close to 80% of the cars on the road are FWD or AWD, front CV shafts are nothing new to people.

HAHA, leavin hawaii after the quake? Talked to my friend who lives on Kaneohe bay....said you guys felt it pretty good over there eh? Hope nothing fell on the GXP!

Back on topic...

Yeah I would say they aren't THAT dumb to go and chain down the CVs...but are the CVs on the newer bonnes really accessable anyways?

TAKE PICTURES OF EVERYTHING!!!!! I MEAN EVERYTHING. I spent 8 years in the Army and about once a month someone comes in from afar and is complaining about damage done while shipping.

Wcollier: Lol! Naw, nuttin' fall on Bonneville...but I DID have to open the garage door by hand.

To all who've answered, thank you! Good points on the accessibility of the CV axles...I guess. I've never really looked underneath the front end, so I don't know. The reason for my concern is that my last car---a 2003 Mercury Marauder---suffered pretty badly at the hands of the shippers. They slammed it onto the back of a car hauler, dropped it off the ship on delivery in Hawaii (not far---just a few feet, but it was enough) and basically turned the police-interceptor suspension into Jell-O.

So I'm reaaaallllly apprehensive this time. I plan on letting them take it only as far as Long Beach, then pick it up and drive it the rest of the way. If anybody could give me some sort of graphic description on where those chains should be attached, it would be helpful.
