Ford did it with the Mustang; should Pontiac have done it with its Bonnevilles in the 90s? The Bonneville was, after all, a full-size sedan.

that is really interesting to think about. granted ford did it with the mustang, but gm answered that with the firebird and camaro. i do prefer rwd myself, but i wonder if they had stayed with that would there have been the number of sse'* built that there was, or would the sse have been a limited production car like the impala ss?

as food for thought if the bonneville were RWD it probably would have been cancelled much sooner to make room for more SUV production, just like the caprice was.
being FWD probably helped the bonneville survive as long as it did.

Me too, Mustang was/is a sports car, and the Bonneville was a full size family sedan.
Either way though, I think that a L67 RWD would be awesome

The Mustang *almost* went FWD in the late 1980'* with the introduction of the Ford Probe, which apparently was suppoed to replace the 'stang.
Thank goodness it never happened. As for a RWD Bonneville? Yeah, I'd love it. But I already have my RWD luxo sedan of choice and it'* Japanese, also has six cylinders, and kicks major ***
