I put up a valiant effort, at least.

Its ok, man.
If a Bonneville runs a Lambo and loses, not a huge surprise. But if a Bonnie runs a Lambo and wins.. heh heh.

I'm not picking on you, just the general idea that running someone is all in the car, and the driver just steps on the gas. Don't look at a car like that and just assume that because some magazine got it to 60 in 4 seconds that the dude behind the wheel can.
Its kinda like driving in snow here. You have all the 4x4s, the Subarus, people thinking AWD makes them invincible. And they are usually the first ones in the ditch. I may not have AWD, or snow tires, or even tires I would consider decent all seasons. But I know where the limits are, I know how to control my car, and I'm not afraid to get sideways a little, even in a big boat like a LeSabre. You do the best you can with what you have. Even a Bonneville can beat a Lambo in the right situation!

This ole man knows how to drive and spray NOS. And used to let his 86 YO Aunt sit shotgun while he spanked a few ricers. The look on their faces were priceless as we whized by and I said ; "Smile and Wave Auntie Em".

There'* more to driving then smashing your foot to the floor and holding it there. I spent a lot of time learning my car. I found if I smashed my foot I did 0-60 in 5.4 seconds, sometimes a bit more. But if I worked the gas, listened to the tires and watched the RPMs I could hit 0-60 in 5 seconds flat. Same car, different driving. You can take a nice car with a great driver, and he will blow away a great car with a OK driver every time.
