I actually saw a 2001 or 2002 SSE or SSEi with a cloth top. 
It was white with a tan colored top. It actually looked decent, but then again the new SSEi is such a fresh car that it looks good no matter what. 
I will admit, the bonneville looks a lot better with a normal top though.

It kinda looks like that bonneville is sporting a hat!
It might work (still would look kinda nasty) if the guy painted his bumper blue all the way around the car.
