Default car alarm goes off for no reason

my car alarm went off for no reason?!
Horn blaring and lights a flashin....lol
In the manual it says it should only go off if the car is entered without a key or the locks are damaged.
So what the heck? Is this gonna happen all the time? That will drive me nuts!

Anyone know anything?

This time when I shut it off, I locked it with the key instead of using the inside power locks...
What the heck is going on? Can you tell this is my first car with an alarm in it...hehe

I never installed or had a car alarm either, which I should considering all the money my car sucks in, so my first thought it that maybe you have a bad ground or loose connection.

Did someone try to get out of the car once you had already locked it? The only way to disarm the system is to unlock it with the key or a remote. The unlock button won't do it!

mine did the same a few times after I got it, in the middle of the night..LOL
most Bonnie SSE'* come standard with alarms. You have power door locks also, make sure when you exit the vehicle you push the "Lock" Button, then when you are outside the car the alarm light should stay on (not flash) for a period of time, this means it'* "armed"
If anyone bumps it or you try and enter it without the key it will go off. Only way to de-activate it is with the key. There is a time period set, (its only like 1-2 mins). from the time you auto-lock it and the time the door is closed so only auto-lock when YOU (the driver) are exiting the vehicle and all other doors are closed .
You'll get the hang of it, and the neighbours will be much happier! LMAO

Mine used to do this and the pervious owner had installed more gizmo’* and switches than I could figure out so I thought it might be them, well I found out later that it was a short and it was at the battery terminal. You will notice disconnecting and reconnecting ground will set off the alarm. So yeah a ground in shorting on you.
