very bad night
so ever since the valvetrain swap the car has been running great. but after driving two hours last night it developed a very strange sound, we pulled over to try to figure it out but had no luck. so we drove it back to my house very carfully. when we got home it was missing bad and had a weird smell to it...and became obvious that it was a spun bearing by the sound. and if thats not enough we hit a cat on the way home...so i feel terible about that. im going to fix this engine and sell the car...im buying my freinds 2000 malibu.

You are going to put another engine in and sell it? You can't fix a spun bearing w/o pulling the motor and doing what I consider to be a costly amount of machining. It would usually be cheaper to toss a different motor in. And then..why dump it?

yes i have two core engines sitting in my garage that will make one good engine. i may not sell it but with the miles im concerned about the tranny and its going to need a paint job in a year or two. i dont understand how a bearing can randomly break lose.

Id keep your car too. Malibu'* are small and IMO drive like a go-cart.
It also depends on how many miles the malibu has and what condition it'* in.
