I plan on replacing the front bumper chrome trim molding. Thanks to wilwren for supplying the P/N. Just wondering if anyone has replaced their trim molding and how difficult the job is of removing the old trim and installing the new trim? If anyone has replaced the trim would appreciate some feedback. Thanks.

Can't really tell for sure......do you have the new trim yet? It looks like there'* 2 retainers about 4" from each end, and another one in the center. Not sure what type, too hard to tell from the pic I have. I hope you don't have to remove the front bumper cover to get to the back side.....

wilwren, I will probably order the part the first of the week. Just curious if the backing was of the sticky kind where you have to press it down to stick. Guess I will find out when I get the part.

jr's3800, Yep, the flakey chrome trim molding. All of the other trim molding is in excellent shape. Just the front bumper trim is the one that'* flaking.

from damage in the past mine are both clear coated over. If you want a permament solution. That one is.

wilwren, I ordered the trim molding this morning. When I get it will try and post some pics of the backside if anyone else is interested in seeing what the reverse side of the trim looks like.

wilwren, Affirmative. Washed it two days ago. Luckily I have a garage to keep it in. The winters here get downright nasty. Snow, ice and everything else.

Just got my front bumper trim from gmparts.com today. It was shipped coiled up in a small box. From looking at the backside it is just one long piece of rubber with the sticky back. The red tape on the back is protecting the sticky surface. Looks like it is going to be an easy installation. Just remove the old and stick on the new. See no evidence for retainers or having to bolt it on to the bumper. I am going to take it to our maintance hanger this weekend. A couple of our aircraft mechanics who also work on cars said they would give me a hand. Will post results after the installation.
