Default Repair shop manual on CD?

Hi,

on ebay, I saw some people advertising some CD version of the repair shop manual... Apparently it'* the full version with all the information...

Anyone heard about this?

I also tried to get a paper version, however, aunction ended at 55$ + 25$ for shipping to canada, which would have costed me ~ 140$ can heh... I can almost get new manuals for that price

Be careful with a CD manual. Most of them are generic for several types of cars and years. Most aren't a digital duplicate of the paper shop repair manual. You want the GM factory service manual, or a good chiltons.

From what I read either from the comments or from what he answered me (with email), apparently his would be specials cds that contain almost every info that is in the shop repair manual except interiors reparation:

"Hi,
Yes this is the Pontiac repair manual on CD, but does not include interior
repairs. The only compaints I have received were for a few select CDs that
for some reason were missing info. This one has everything included in the
item description.
Thanks for your interest
Curtis"

"Hi,
The SSE is covered. The power windows, door locks, heater system,
instrument cluster are covered. Most anything else interior is not covered.
Thanks again
Curtis"

This sound good too, I may give it a try, after that >:]...

Keep us posted. I'd like to know what you get. I might trade you a copy of that for a copy of my 'magic' book of part numbers

I ordered one a bit ago and it should be here shortly. I'll let you know if it is any good or not. I got mine off E-bay too.

I just got mine in. It is a collection of 101 PDF files and Acrobat reader. The files do lay out wiring diagrams for most major systems, trouble shhoting guides for most major systems, and specs on a lot of parts. It dies seem to be geared mostly towards the year and model the disc is made for (1995 in my case).

The best use for this disc would be to accompany a store bought manual such as a Chiltons or Hayes. The store bought manual will have all the procedures to dis-assemble and re-assemble major components but the CD will have far more accurate and numberous wiring diagrams, torque specs, and other model specific information.

A REAL factory service manual will still be best. I rate the store bought manuals about a 5 (from 1=bad and 10=good), the CD about a 7 (when accompanied by a store bought manual), and the factroy service manual is a 10.

If anyone has questions on what type of information the CD has on a certain portion of the car just let me know and I can tell you how in depth it goes.

You still need the Chiltons manual for assemply / dis-assembly procedures. This has exploided veiws of some parts, but not all. It just takes off where the store manual left off. Alot of store manual use general procedures and don't specify specific parts for perticular years of cars. This CD will just fill in most of those gaps. There are some procedures in it but they are mostly just typed out, no pictures. I can send you a sample if you want. The whole thing is sectioned off into PDF files.
